Abstract

A method of combined carbonitriding of 12KhN3A, 40Kh, 45 and KhVG structural steels in a nitrogen-argon-propane mixture was considered. The influence of various technological modes on the characteristics of the hardened layers, in particular the thickness and microhardness, was studied. For each of the above-mentioned steels, the optimal process conditions of hardening were determined. The assessment of technological modes allows  achieving the maximum parameters of the thickness of the hardened layer and its microhardness, which is important for increasing the wear resistance and durability of machine parts operating under conditions of intensive mechanical load.
