Abstract
The effect of sintering temperature and the amount of TiC alloying additive on the strength of tungsten carbide (WC) granules (400/315 μm) under compression testing was investigated. The results of the destructive load measurements for five samples of particles obtained under different conditions were analyzed using statistical methods. It was found that the highest strength was observed in WC granules with 2 mass% TiC. Further increase of the titanium carbide content to 4 mass % led to a decrease in strength. The lowest strength and the greatest variability in destructive load values were observed in WC granules without TiC.
