Abstract

Using the method of singular integral equations, the solutions of the plane problems about stress concentration near curvilinear holes in an orthotropic plane with smooth and piece-smooth contours are constructed. Numerical results for orthotropic plates with holes of various shapes under uniaxial symmetric loading at infinity have been obtained. The distributions of contour normal stresses for a narrow slot and an elliptical hole in orthotropic and quasi-orthotropic planes with the same ratio of the main elastic module of the material are compared. The stress concentration and intensity factors for an orthotropic plate with square and rhombic holes with rounded and sharp tips are calculated.
