Abstract

The investigated Co80.85Fe4.17Mn3.69Si5.81B5.48 ribbon amorphous alloy exhibited significantly higher corrosion resistance in 0.1 M HNO3 solution than in 0.1 M H2SO4. The oxidizing properties of nitrate ions promote the formation of a stable protective oxide layer. In nitric acid, surface passivation is observed, with corrosion current densities decreasing to 0.12–0.47 μA/cm2. In sulfuric acid, the processes are less stable due to the continuous fracture and restoration of the passive film. The contact surface of the amorphous metal alloy ribbon is characterized by higher corrosion resistance compared to the external surface Electrochemical parameters prove the effectiveness of silicon and magnesium alloying to form stable passive films and demonstrate the prospective use of this alloy in machine-building, chemical industry and biomedicine.
