Abstract

We present the results of investigation of the stress-corrosion wear (SCW) in model acid media of 20, 45, 40Kh, and 38Kh2MYuA steels and SCh20 gray cast iron both hardened by nitriding in hydrogen-free media and softened. The dependences of wear intensity and friction coefficient on pressure in the course of friction contact and sliding velocity are constructed. The data on variations of the ratio of corrosion and mechanical factors of fracture in the process of SCW are obtained as functions of pressure and sliding speed. The experimental results are explained within the framework of physicochemical mechanics of materials.
