Abstract
The effect of alloying with molybdenum (Mo) on the electrochemical properties of a-titanium manufactured by secondary technology was investigated (electroslag remelting in an open mould to produce a 55 mm diameter casting). The consumable electrode was made from the cutting waste (sheet scrap) of commercially pure titanium (90 wt%) and molybdenum (10 wt%). The electrochemical behaviour in 40% H2SО4 and 20% HCl solutions of the studied titanium was evaluated by the potentiodynamic polarization method. The Mo-alloyed titanium has higher corrosion resistance compared to secondary manufactured and commercially pure VT1-0 titanium.
